Holiday Giving Campaign Thank You for Supporting our Holiday Giving Campaign, and for Helping us Give Back to Those in Need!
The staff and board of Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to our holiday giving campaign!! We are grateful for your generous contributions.
CHUN adopted one large family this year for the holidays through the Denver Rescue Mission and asked our membership to help us purchase needed items and gifts for them. We received donations totaling over $800, allowing us to purchase items such as clothing, shoes, winter coats, food, and toys for our “family.” We delivered the gifts on Saturday, December 12 and were greeted by excited children and very grateful parents. This was made possible because of contributions from our generous members.
CHUN helped coordinate “Food for All,” an emergency food drive benefitting Metro CareRing and Denver Urban Ministries, both of which struggle to meet the increasing demand from those in need in our community. More than 25 large bins were collected, making this a huge success!! Also in 2009, our entire staff volunteered at the Denver Rescue Mission, preparing and serving lunch for hundreds of people in need. This was a great experience which we plan to continue in 2010.
CHUN also collected many new and gently used toys for the Santa Claus Shop Toy Drive. Last year, the Santa Claus Shop served nearly 17,000 children (up 30% from 2007). The numbers are not in for this year, but we anticipate that the need was great.
We plan to continue these efforts in 2010, and we hope to again have your support! Thank you very much!!!
