Annette Woodward Named "Neighborhood Star"

Congratulations to Annette Woodward for being named a "Neighborhood Star" by Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation!!   Annette was nominated for this honor by the Board of the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association, which she has served on for 9 years.  Annette is an active community and neighborhood leader who strives to improve the quality of life in her Cherry Creek North neighborhood and to promote the success of all community organizations in which she is involved.  Some of her community involvements and accomplishments are:

1. Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation - Annette is currently an INC Delegate representing CCNNA for over six years and supporting INC positions and strategies on City improvements.  She constantly informs CCNNA Board members and CCN residents and solicits support on important community issues that are being addressed by INC.

2. Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) - Being a current and active Board member of CHUN, Annette served as CHUN Board President for three years.  She continues to serve on several committees that protect neighborhood properties and balance commercial development; restore the Tears-McFarlane House; strive to enhance the CHUN Peoples Fair and its community support; and provide ongoing support to CHUN affiliated neighborhood organizations.  She has been most active in the successful volunteer committee efforts that have protected Civic Center Park and its green space from the City's intent to use park property for City or State buildings.  In all, Annette has been a Board delegate from District 10 (CCN) for over seven years, utilizing CHUN zoning knowledge and expertise in educating residents and protecting the quality of life in Cherry Creek North.  She has supported and participated actively in CHUN's outreach programs, including the City's Homeless Program, Broken Windows Crime Prevention Program, and Colfax Avenue business and community improvements.

3. Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association (CCNNA) - Being a current CCNNA Board member, Annette has well represented the interests of CCN residents for over 9 years.  She was active in the struggle to maintain Fillmore Plaza as public space for residents and visitors, preventing the Business Improvement District's intent to convert the park into a commercial street.  She has assisted with fundraising efforts for community non-profit organizations, raising significant donations through the CCNNA Silent Auction to the Denver Food Bank ($2,500), Salvation Army ($5,000), and the Denver Children's Home ($9,000) in the past four years.  She has actively supported the Board's CCN social activities for residents that have produced over $10,000 for the Denver Public School System.  As co-chair of the CCNNA General Resident Meeting Program Committee, she has arranged interesting, important community speakers on topics that educate CCN residents on key City and neighborhood activities, actions, and potential commercial plans that affect Cherry Creek North.  Annette has served on the Advisory Committee of the CCN Business Improvement District's Capital Improvements Committee, providing input and advice on plans to enhance the BID and neighborhood interface areas.

Wayne New, President of CCNNA, said "the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association is very proud and fortunate to have Annette Woodward as one of its most progressive and caring Board members and residents.  She is a shining example on how community citizens can impact and improve the quality of life in Denver and its neighborhoods."

We at Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods appreciate Annette's years of service and her dedication to our Greater Capitol Hill community!
